|Title:||Reading within and Beyond the Classroom by D.T. Taverner|
|Publisher:||Open University Press|
|Number of Pages:||112|
In the light of the requirements of the National Curriculum, this book explores the place of reading, setting out a practical programme. This aims to be a support for schools and individual teachers in the extension and development of their reading policies into the 1990s. The book presents a framework for reading acquisition, and considers the ways in which this framework can be built upon through the selection, organization and deployment of reading materials in class and in schools. It examines methods for the teaching of reading which may be used within and outside the classroom; and how to assess reading progress. Finally it analyzes the role of reading within the National Curriculum.
